WHAT IS
HYROX?
HYROX combines eight functional exercises with eight 1km runs. The goal? To complete the course as quickly as possible! With multiple categories, such as Individual Pro, Individual Open, Relay and Doubles, there is a suitable challenge for every fitness level. Here is a brief explanation of the stations you will encounter:

- SkiErg-Simulate a cross-country move on a machine that challenges your upper body and endurance.
- Sled Push – Push a heavily loaded sled forward. This station tests your explosive strength and leg power.
- Sled Pull – Pull a sled backwards with a rope. This exercise requires strength in your arms, back and legs.
- Burpee Broad Jumps - Combine burpees with far-forward skipping, a spicy test for your cardio and core stability.
- Rowing – Row a set distance as fast as possible. This station combines strength and endurance.
- Farmers Carry-Carry heavy weights as you travel a distance, which challenges your grip strength and core stability.
- Sandbag Lunges-Perform lunges with a heavy sandbag on your shoulders, perfect for strengthening your legs and balance.
- Wall Balls – Throw a ball against a high wall from a squat position. This station trains your explosiveness and fitness.
THE HYROX CATEGORIES
WHAT FITS YOU?
HYROX is for everyone, whether you participate as an individual or in a team. Let us briefly explain the different categories:
- Individual Pro: This is the category for the seasoned athlete. With heavier weights and more intense exercises, this is the ultimate testing course. Here you will be challenged to go deep both physically and mentally.
- Individual Open: A perfect choice for those new to HYROX or looking for a solid challenge without the extreme heaviness of the Pro category. Here the weights are lighter, but the effort remains high.
- Doubles: In the doubles category, you work together with a partner. You divide the exercises and kilometers of running, so that you can support each other and reach the finish together. Ideal for duos who want to become stronger together!
- Relay: Gather a team of four and split the 8 workouts and 8 kilometers of running. Each team member does two events, making teamwork and strategy crucial. Perfect for groups who want to compete together and help each other to the finish line!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
TO HYROX?
HYROX is open to everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level. There are no special qualifications required to participate in most races, although some events may require you to pre-register or complete a specific distance in training.

HYROX offers different age groups to ensure that participants of similar fitness levels and ages compete against each other. The age groups are typically as follows:
- 16-29 Years
- 30-39 years
- 40-49 years
- 50 years and older

RECORDS AND AVERAGE FINISH TIMES?
Among the men, Hunter Mcintyre has achieved the highest score. In 2023, he set a time of 00:53:22 in Stockholm. Among the women, this is Lauren Weeks. She set a time of 00:58:03 in Vienna in 2024.
